Weight loss diet: Drinking water BEFORE meals has been proven to help shed the pounds

Cutting back on sugars and starches, eating protein fat and vegetables and doing plenty of exercise are just a few of the best known secrets to losing weight. 

Drinking plenty of water is also said to have a host of health benefits. 

But did you know drinking water, especially before meals, can help with weight loss. 

According to scientifically-proven studies, drinking water can boost metabolism by 24 to 30 per cent over a period of 1 to 1.5 hours, helping you burn off a few more calories. 

The research is highlighted by Healthline.com on its website. 

One study in particular showed that drinking half a litre of water around half an hour before having a meal helped dieters eat fewer calories and lose 44 per cent more weight. 

The findings were published in a paper titled, ‘Water consumption increases weight loss during a hypo caloric diet intervention in middle-aged and older adults’.
